Course Overview

The Web Design training workshop is designed to provide participants with the marketable skills necessary to become web page designers or online content developers. Using our unique project-based approach, participants will be carefully led through the entire web design and development process, including the creation of online rich media applications that include two-way voice and video streaming. Static and dynamic websites will be built throughout the program, utilizing the most current versions of industry standard tools. Participants will also be exposed to "best practices" developed by the hottest web and interactive media designers from around the world.

Throughout the workshop, participants will construct a number of projects including a personal, dynamic website where the content can be instantly updated. Participants will be shown how to prepare line art and images for the web, as well how to build the databases that feed content, words, images, sounds and video into sites. Flash sites will be created that utilize dynamic content and streaming media. The course concludes with participants making professional portfolio presentations to faculty and peers in order to facilitate the transition from classroom to the workplace.

Dreamweaver MX 2004, Fireworks MX 2004, Flash MX 2004, Flash Communication Server MX, ColdFusion MX, Photoshop CS, and Illustrator CS will be taught and used throughout the program. HTML, PHP, Actionscript, JavaScript, and XHTML are the scripting and programming languages that drive the web. Through integration of the above applications and programming languages, participants will develop and build a full functioning e-commerce solution.
